A must-have for the Portland-area gardener or urban-farmer interested in locally-adapted plant varieties. Everything in this collection is the result of plant-breeding efforts that started at our gardens in Portland, during our urban-farming days.  Simply by successive seed-saving, we bred varieties that are suited to the microclimate of the area, but we also selected for particular traits including hardiness and early-maturation. The “Famous Firepit Kale/Collards Cross” is available only as part of this package, not individually.  The collection is comprised of one seed packet each of:

• Chard, “Stumptown Coffee” blend – bred from “Bright Lights”, “Fordhook Giant” and others, for bright orange, yellow and red stems of different shapes
• Kale/Collards, “Famous Firepit Cross” – a grex of various Kales and Collards, expressing themselves in a multitude of leaf shapes and colors 
• Parsnips, “Firepit Selection” – bred from several varieties for length, girth & drought-tolerance
• Coreopsis, “Crazy Mixed-up Mix” – selected for whimsical color combinations
• Smoking Tobacco, “Pedro’s Cuban” – originally brought to Sellwood from El Salvador, grown out for several plant generations in Portland area – a serious hummingbird attractor!
• Quinoa, “Bailey’s” – “Faro” Quinoa cross-bred with several other varieties of Quinoa and selected for earliest maturation
