A loose tea blend of organic and fair trade herbs. Our spices are purchased whole and we grind them with a custom made bicycle grinder. This is a masala chai blend, on the spicy side of life! This product has no sugar whatsoever. We use an organic and fair-trade Orange Pekoe in our Black Tea blend. Our Rooibos is also OG/FTP. The Legend of Heartsong Chai: In the year 2000, "Chai Tea" was an American fad and in Ashland, Oregon, it was Heartsong Chai. We began in a borrowed cafe, selling at farmers market. Soon we converted a shed in my backyard into a commercial kitchen, and expanded into Eugene and introduced the "Pepper Brews". Spicy, surprising elixirs made with citrus and a variety of organic chili peppers. Four years later, the brews being warmly received in PDX, we took a giant leap of faith. We rented an old Pizza Hut to create the Chai Hut: a tea microbrewery & cafe (etc...). It was an epic endeavor that, in a nut(meg) shell, took too long, cost too much and closed in 2009. But in the hearts of locals and fans, Heartsong lived on! To you, I say thanks and here you go.... The bike grinder rides again!
